Struggle and Inspiration on Life's Journey

<div class="text-justify">  Life is an unending struggle. Obstacles and challenges await at every step. Sometimes, faced with these hurdles, we grow weary or feel like giving up. Yet, true living means enduring—moving forward without admitting defeat. Today, I will share the story of an elderly man whose life can serve as an inspiration to many of us. Everyone calls him Uncle He is nearing seventy; his hair has turned grey, and his skin bears the marks of age. Yet, his mental fortitude and physical agility allow him to outdo many young people. He sits by the roadside selling kochu shak (taro greens). Once, he had a happy family and a life free from want. However, due to a cruel twist of fate, he lost everything and is now alone. Despite this, he has never become dependent on anyone; he sustains himself through the fruits of his own toil and hard-earned money.  Observing Kaka’s day-long labor, I marvel at his spirit; at this age, people usually think of rest, but for him, work itself is rest. He believes that without work, a person is no better than a corpse. His work and self-reliance kindle a new hope within us. When we crumble under minor setbacks, Kaka’s life reminds us that life is a battle—and winning that battle requires indomitable will and hard work. We often chase after happiness and dream big, yet we forget that happiness often lies hidden in small, simple joys. After a long day of work, when Kaka cooks and eats a simple meal with his own hands, the smile of contentment that lights up his face is worth more than a fortune. His simple life and humble joys teach us that happiness is not a material object, but a state of mind. Kaka’s life offers us a profound lesson. He has shown us that one can live with dignity even amidst scarcity. There is a unique sense of fulfillment in surviving through one's own labor rather than reaching out for help from others. For those of us who become disheartened by life's trivial problems, Kaka’s story serves as a powerful source of inspiration.
